Penance Performance in the Common Thread International Juried Exhibition Part 3 at the B42 Gallery.

Gareth Bate in Oakville's World of Threads Festival Common Thread International Juried Exhibition Part 3 at B42 Gallery.

Sept. 18 - Oct. 4, 09

Gareth Bate will be exhibiting "Penance" at the Common Thread International Juried Exhibition Part 3 at B42 Gallery

World of Threads Festival
We invite you to Oakville's biennial celebration of international contemporary and traditional fibre arts. This year we have 14 exhibitions with 190+ artists from 12 countries and 8 provinces.

The Common Thread International Juried Exhibition is the flagship event of the Festival. This year we had 215 entries from sixteen countries and eight provinces. The jurors had difficult decisions to make on jury day. Due to the quality of the pieces received, a decision was made to expand the Common Thread into three galleries. There was a huge variety of contemporary and traditional pieces.

The results will dazzle you with amazing displays from international artists from Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey and The United States of America. Canadian artists featured are from Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. A number of these pieces are for sale.

There will be approaches to fibre including sculpture, installation, quilting, hooking, lace making, knitting, weaving, embroidery, crocheting, felting, mixed media, soft sculpture, basketry, wearable-art conceptual work and performance.

The festival is fast approaching - mark your calendar and come prepared to be wowed by the quality and variety of these beautiful exhibitions.
